The Reina-Valera, also referred to as the Bible of Casiodoro de Reina or Biblia del Oso, is one of the earliest translations of the Bible into Spanish. It was derived from original texts in Hebrew and Greek and first published in Basel, Switzerland on September 28, 1569. The translator, Casiodoro de Reina, was a Spanish religious figure who embraced Protestantism. The revision by Cipriano de Valera in 1602 is what gave it its well-known title.
